Buzz Aldrin

On the subject of manned exploration of Mars Buzz Aldrin recently said, “They need to go there more with the psychology of knowing that you are a pioneering settler and you don’t look forward to go back home again after a couple a years”, “At age 30, they are given an opportunity. If they accept, then we train them, at age 35, we send them. At age 65, who knows what advances have taken place. They can retire there, or maybe we can bring them back.”

Personally I think that a one way trip is too much to expect for the first trip, both from an individual print of view and from the perspective of the technological and logistical problems there would be.  However it is always good to see discussion of manned space exploration, especially from someone as respected as Buzz Aldrin.

I’ve missed the Martian boat, despite the promises of the 60′s and 70s, but I hope my kids will see the opportunity to set foot there.
